The Healio team had the opportunity to attend two end-of-year oncology and hematology conferences, the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) and the American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting and Exposition.
SABCS provides attendees with the latest data, approvals, and ongoing research specific to the ever-evolving space of breast cancer diagnostics and treatment. Highlights from the symposium included a variety of promising drug combinations and research for patients whose breast cancer has metastasized.
After long and informative days of meetings and educational sessions, attendees could step out directly from the convention center to San Antonio’s famous riverwalk, which was beautifully decorated for the holidays and contained many restaurant options, including locally renowned Tex-Mex cuisine.
Straight from San Antonio, the Healio team flew out to sunny San Diego to attend ASH, which took place at the convention center in the downtown Gaslamp Quarter. Conference attendance was higher than in past years, and attendees learned about new approaches to the management of hemophilia and the first cell-based gene therapies for individuals with sickle cell disease.
Like San Antonio, San Diego is well-known for its excellent Mexican restaurants, and the downtown setting provides the perfect atmosphere for unwinding and socializing after a busy day.
Overall, it was great to see the continued innovation and new treatment options that were presented at both SABCS and ASH. To everyone we had the chance to connect with, and for those who could not attend, our team looks forward to seeing you at future events and wish you and yours a prosperous 2024!
