How to Enhance Your Social Media Strategy

In the digital age, pharma marketers have more opportunities to promote their brands than ever before. Many of us use social media apps like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok, and LinkedIn. For those who use these apps in their downtime, navigating the platforms is easy. However, if you’re not familiar with them, it’s easy to make avoidable mistakes. To ensure your posts stand out, ask yourself these key questions before you release your draft to the wild:

Is this platform image-based?

If you’re using Instagram or Snapchat, then the answer is yes. This means that you should opt for original photos, like snapshots from a medical convention you attended, over stock images as much as possible. They should be clear and eye-catching. On sites like Twitter and Facebook, it’s okay to skip adding any visual elements if you find that they’re not satisfactory.

Who is my primary audience?

LinkedIn attracts professionals in search of educational and thought-provoking content, so your language should reflect that. With other more relaxed platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok, it’s safe to use casual diction since these apps are used for leisure purposes.

Can I use links in my posts?

If you want to increase traffic to your website, blog, or product landing page, apps like Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat work best because you can add links directly to your posts. All a viewer must do is click on it. On the other hand, if you’re using Instagram or TikTok, you cannot add links in your post caption. The hyperlink will simply appear as regulatory text. However, there is a workaround to this inconvenience. You can add the link to the profile bio and then direct users to said bio.

Are hashtags important?

Despite popular myth, not all social media posts need multiple hashtags to succeed. If you’re on Facebook, for example, one or two pharma-related tags will be more than enough. However, platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter are dependent on your hashtag usage. Make sure to check out each platform’s trending hashtags regularly to see if any of your posts fit in.

Although some social media platforms share similar elements, like Instagram’s Reels and TikTok’s videos, no two social media sites are built the same. Before you post, ask yourself these questions, make necessary adjustments, and watch your likes skyrocket. You may even go viral.
